Some days are more laid-back than others, while some days it seems we’ll never get out alive — or without a glass of wine, at least.
While most of us love to believe we are capable of handling a million tasks at once, sometimes our health takes a back seat to other things. It doesn’t have to, nor should your overall health ever be anything but a top priority. After all, you can’t get much done if you’re sick, and there are certain subtle changes — whether they be changes with your vaginal health, cycle, or something else — that can accidentally go untreated and get worse if you don’t pay close attention.
Luckily, we live in a very digital age, and there are some super awesome apps that can help you stay your fab self, even during those crazy, crazy weeks.
Clue is a top-rated period tracker app due to its sleek look and easy-to-navigate system. Not only is it simple to track your period via their calendar, you always get scientifically accurate footnotes that let you know what’s going on with your body throughout your monthly cycle. If you’re like me and so many other women, Clue also gives you the option to set up reminders to take your pill or remove your ring, etc.
You can keep tabs on your sleep cycle and sexual activity and set up push notifications so you know when you’re about to get your period. No surprises or ruined underwear from here on out.
2. Zoc Doc
ZocDoc helps you navigate the crazy, overwhelming medical world. All you have to do is plug in your health insurance information, and the app will pull up doctors and specialists in your area — and show you available appointments you can book right there within the app. ZocDoc also offers a map view of locations, so you know exactly where you are going and which office will suit you best. There really isn’t an excuse not to make that gyno or doctor’s or appointment, now!
3. TalkspaceYour mental health is and always should be a top priority. Understandably so, finding the right therapist can be a very frustrating experience, and the cost can turn many off from seeking help when needed. Talkspace offers unlimited texted with a trained therapist for as little as $19/week. You can swap our therapists if you don’t feel you’ve found the right fit, and you can even opt for video sessions or couples therapy. All you need for your free consultation is a valid email.
Let’s be honest, here: not all of our friends are equipped to handle what we are going through, nor are they qualified to walk us through our biggest problems, give advice, etc. Sometimes, it really is best to chat with a neutral party.
Lastly, let’s not forget to take good care of our skin. Of course, I understand that perhaps that new, strange mole or your suddenly-very-dry elbows may not seem like that big of a priority, but with skin cancer threats looming and certain skin-related diseases potentially causing major problems, ignoring or trying to fix problems yourself with OTC remedies may not always be the best option. With Spruce, making a doctor’s visit is as easy as snapping a selfie. Your skin-related issues can be analyzed and diagnosed by a dermatologist, and a prescription to treat your case can be called to your nearest pharmacy within 24 hours. You can use the app to help treat dandruff, cold sores, acne, rosacea and more.
If you need in-person care, Spruce connects you to a doctor you can see in real life. Best part? Appointments won’t kill your wallet. The app is free and appointments are a $40 flat fee.
From your cycle to your mental health to measles, mumps and acne, your overall health can all be monitored and your needs met in a way that works out easiest — and most convenient!– for the on-the-go gal.
Your health is so important, and it’s never been easier to make sure your body is working the way it needs to, so you can remain as fabulous as ever.
